LET IT SNOW!

We woke up to no snow but then it started and has been going all day, much to the surprise of everyone including the weathermen!  We were supposed to get a "dusting" but now we have at least 6 inches and it is still snowing.  John, Paul and I have spent a relaxing day looking at the snow and now John and Paul are adding toppings to a cheese pizza that we will enjoy for dinner.

MARCH FOR LIFE, 2010

Yesterday, January 22nd, I went with my friend, Kathy, to the March for Life in Washington D.C.  We went on a bus from our church and joined thousands and thousands of people from across the country to stand up for life.  How could we not go when busloads of people came from Indiana, Missouri, New York, Ohio, California--from every state!   When we left the church it was pouring rain.  When we got off at the Mall the rain had stopped.  During the March the sun came out. Some groups rode on a bus for 24 hours, marched, and then went right back on the bus for 24 more hours.  This year the March was bigger than usual with more signs, more balloons and more colorful attire to identify the various groups.  Kathy and I noticed the large number of teens and young children; they might have outnumbered us older folk.  What an encouraging sight!  We listened to speeches for over an hour and then began the March.  It took about 3 hours for all the people to walk the route.  As always, the March was positive, unifying and meaningful.  Here are some of the pictures I took throughout the day.

MICHAEL AND LAURA ARE ENGAGED!

Michael is engaged to Laura Augenblick.  They will be married in Charleston, S.C., in April, 2011, but the date is yet to be determined.   Michael chose a very creative way to propose.  As he and Laura were decorating their Christmas tree, Laura pulled out one of many small ornament boxes and there was the ring.  I am not privy as to what happened next but suffice it to say that she said, "YES."  We welcome Laura and her family to ours.
Laura and Michael met at Charleston Place Hotel where they both work. Michael is Director of Marketing, Orient Express Hotels, North America,  and Laura is the VIP Coordinator.   Laura is from New Hope, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the College of Charleston.  We had the pleasure of Laura's company on the Outer Banks last summer and Michael cruised the Caribbean with Laura and her parents with her Dad as Captain!  Here you see some lovely pictures of the happy couple!

THE NORTH CAROLINA CADY'S

Here you see a picture of Zack and his girlfriend, Lydia.  They are enjoying the last days of the Christmas vacation.  Zack has completed all his college applications.  His first choice is Princeton.  He is having an interview with Princeton this month. We wish him well.

His Dad, Paul, is living with me and John for awhile until he and Leslie sell their house.  Paul has a new job.  He is Director of Digital Services for Westland Printers, a company within Consolidated Graphics.  His office is in Maryland so the family will eventually settle there.  Paul is excited about his new job.

Here you see the lovebirds with Alex.  Can you believe he is only in 7th grade?  Alex is wrestling and going great guns with the guitar.

CHRISTMAS IN ARKANSAS

We spent a very Merry Christmas in Arkansas with Patrick, Mary, Griffy, Marley and Paula, Mary's mother.  Besides making our Christmas cookies, we played house, did puzzles, watched movies, read stories, and tracked Santa on the Norad radar.
